Everything here starts with the knit. Liviana Conti built its name on Italian knitwear and still designs outwards from it, so the trousers, jackets and coats are cut to sit with the jumpers rather than beside them. Liviana Troffei founded the house more than thirty years ago. We carry it at Lonah in Westbourne for the cashmere blends and the fine gauge wools above all.
The pieces work together, which is not true of every brand we buy. Because the knitwear comes first, a jumper and a trouser from the same delivery tend to share a proportion and a colour story, and that makes the styling easy in store and at home.
The range runs across knitwear, trousers, jackets, coats and waistcoats. Cashmere blends and fine gauge wool do most of the work, with leather and faux fur turning up when the season calls for them. Much of it lands in grey, cream and brown, so it slots in with what you already own instead of demanding a new wardrobe around it.
Liviana Troffei is a knitwear designer first and the collections still show it, in the geometry of a pattern and the way a sleeve is set into a shoulder. The house works mostly in natural fibres, wool, cashmere, viscose and silk, and has developed a regenerated cashmere spun from recovered textile waste.
